Digital car-sharing platform

Context

Our client is an innovative public car-sharing provider active in West Flanders. In this region, it offers a network of vehicles to both individuals and organizations looking to provide their staff with a flexible mobility solution. To support their strong growth, they were looking for a system specifically developed based on their needs. This was despite already using a solid shared mobility system. The reason was simple: manual interventions in the different steps of the process would become a bottleneck for further growth, so the client was looking for a system that seamlessly aligns with their operations.

To make this possible, we worked closely with our client to create a fully centralized and automated solution covering all aspects of their business operations. Thanks to the new platform, the client was able to quadruple their fleet in less than a year, reaching more than 200 vehicles.

What we did

Desino designed and developed a fully digital car-sharing platform using Flutter & Laravel Technology. It allows users to reserve vehicles, manage bookings, and handle payments entirely online. The platform is integrated with Webfleet and third-party telematics. This is to ensure real-time synchronization of all vehicles, including availability, location, and status. 

With the mobile application, users have the virtual key of the reserved vehicle in their pocket. They can easily reserve, locate, access, and open, close, and start the vehicle. Next to that, the application provides real-time insights into the actual cost of their reservation. 

In addition, we implemented automated processes such as reservation handling, billing, and vehicle access control. We also provided powerful tools for administrators and fleet managers to manage the entire system. 

To correctly target the client base, all information is centralized in a QlikSense Reporting system. This system provides forecasts on usage, revenue, and client behavior. These segmentations are reused in the management application and a centrally orchestrated marketing automation layer.
